Village Sakdrioni

Sakdrioni is a village in Tianeti municipality, located 27 kilometers from Tianeti, at 1060 meters above sea level. The old name of the village - Merkani - is preserved in many historical documents.

In the village, there stands a medieval hall church which is named after St. George and dates back to VIII-IX centuries. The church has been rebuilt several times, though its plan and forms have not changed.

To the west of the church is a two-storey bell tower.

The church was last restored in the 1980s.

There is also a Devenantkhevi Church in the vicinity of the village, and the remains of an old dwelling can be seen near it.
