Khevsurian traditional clothes

Traditional Khevsurian clothing, which is distinguished by its peculiar cut and decoration, is called talavari. It was sewn from black or dark blue wool cloth. This fabric is thick, heavy, and rough, but durable and long-lasting. The main element of the Khevsur woman's clothing is the "Sadiatso" dress and the “Papanagi" also made from wool and worn above that. The headdress was also remarkable and differed according to whether the woman was unmarried, married, or widowed. Khevsur woman’s headdress is "sataura" and "mandili".

As for men's clothing, their attire, “Samkhedroni” was also embroidered with crosses and astral symbols. It was accompanied by armor: a chain shirt, a sword, shield, and helmet. An integral part of the garment were knitted britches - pachichebi and bast shoes – tatebi – with leather soles.
